Get your paint brushes and PVC glue at the ready! Easter is just around the corner and with it comes some great opportunities to help school children get creative with arts and crafts.

From Mother’s Day gifts to Easter bonnet parades and making baskets for chocolate egg hunts, there’s so much to create at this time of year that it would be a shame not to explore all of the amazing Easter craft ideas there are.

Here are a few of our favourites:

• Origami chicks and bunnies made with coloured paper and coloured card

Children love making animal shapes both with their hands and with coloured paper. And teaching them to create an origami chick or bunny is simple and quick, even for the little ones. All you need is plenty of coloured paper – take a look at some of the many online videos for some inspiration!

• Hats for an easter bonnet parade

Get an old hat and decorate it with a myriad of arts and crafts materials which might include Spring like coloured felt and stick on shapes, a bright array of feathers, crepe paper streamers, pom poms, pipe cleaners, multi-coloured curling ribbon, paints, glitter and bright coloured card – the world is your oyster! It’s a great Easter challenge to give primary school children using all the arts and craft materials above and much more. Then, why not hold an Easter bonnet parade to show them all off at the end!

• Painted and decorated eggs

Here you’ll need plenty of paint, glitter and other craft materials to paint the egg, or, using pom poms and feathers, perhaps help the children to stick on lots of bits and bobs to turn them into a cute little Easter animal, such as a chick, lamb, or bunny.
